Brexit, what's that?

Brexit, what's that?

What will Brexit do for the profession of carers? It all looks mega-uncertain in economic terms, and Brexit is like jumping off a cliff not knowing if the ground is 2 feet down or 200 feet. Would you jump?

But my thought here is more about the psychodynamic aspects. What does it mean to turn one's back on collaboration with others? It has surely been the success of human beings that we have invented better ways to co-operate then most of the animals. So if we are going against the co-operative spirit which is the very thing which has made our species a success, then there appears to be something perverse going on. Well it is true that human beings are indeed perverse, and probably the most destructive and self-destructive of all the animals in the biological world.

What has brought out our most perverse side at this point in time, and over this particular issue?

What is going on at the unconscious level?

I would be interested in others' thoughts about this. But will from time to time put up some thoughts of my own.

Many members of APPCIOS have come to this country from the EU - and from further afield.   So this is a subject that concerns us deeply.

I agree Jenny. We are so dependent on Europe.  And dependence creates such unconscious turmoil. Is that what Brexit is about?

I think that there are so many factors at work at the moment.  One that I'm particularly conscious of is the turmoil created by our dependency on computerisation:  computers give us so much instant gratification at one level, but do not give us the reality check - for good and for bad - that we receive from other human beings.
